Basement RenovationsBuilding rooms in the basement adds value of usable space and equity in the home. A recent project was that our client originally wanted to move to a larger home but could not find something that had a green space behind the home like the existing one did. Also they felt that the costs of moving and the price of a new house was out of their budget. Since the basement was not finished the decision was made to build rooms downstairs and make it comfortable for the teenage son and daughter to use when their friends come over. The recreation was laid out in a floor plan to accomodate the couches and television and a complete built-in sound system. The husband collected old records and a cabinet was built in with glass doors to display them. A custom desk was constructed and bookcase beside it. The lighting layout was done in potlights and two wall sconces. The hardwood flooring made it an easy care room for cleaning. A feature wall of stone was built in the brick pattern look which is so popular now. The room was wired for high frequency wireless and a sound system for television and music was customized for the client. The bathroom was build with a shower area and vanity and storage tower for towels. Potlights were placed appropriately and combination light and heat lamp was added to the shower area. A small bedroom/study room was constructed with french doors on it for when there was studying. The basement windows were constructed in way as to make it look like the area was above ground by making them wider and longer than what they really were. Shutters were then installed on the new windows. The resulting look of the room was comfortable and functional with the added touch of professional design. Ready to renovate? Give us a call. |
