The Living Room

The owner of this prestigious condominium was moving from a six thousand square foot home to a 2,800 square foot condo.

They needed to incorporate many pieces of antique furnishings and original paintings into the more modern settings. The ambiance of the rooms for this particular client was traditional and therefore we set out to provide the most beautiful setting for the rooms that we possibly could. Each room had a personality of its own and we started with the living room and open concept kitchen areas with the walls of windows. We created a dramatic wall of sheers in a exquisite fabric with a damask flower pattern made in France. Since they were so long, we had them draw across one way only therefore not obstructing the view of the lake. Panels of black out soft white lining were hung in behind to protect the sheers from the sun.

We pulled a colour from the fabric of the couch that the client loved and matched with a beautiful hand tufted area rug from India and re-upholstered two tub chairs to sit opposite the couch in front of the fireplace. This silk fabric for the chairs added a more of the same colour to the room. Three barstools were covered in a fabric which had a small stripe with the colour of the rug and the two wood colours of the cabinetry therefore tying everything in. The client was very pleased to be able to use her small tables in the room. When a client has pieces of furniture that she wishes to use in the new design, we do everything possible to make it work.

The Dining Room

The dining room was a sophisticated space which the client wanted to use for small initmate dinner parties. The client wanted to keep their antique dining set with the long table and the cane backed chairs. The chairs were re-upholstered by adding more padding to the seats and the cane was removed from the back and padded. The seats and the backs were then uphostered in fabric with a very narrow stripe of red/gold/and blue. These colours were picked up from the Persian rug that the client had purchased while travelling in the Middle East.

In order to create a larger look to the room we designed a new very intricate window treatment. Pure Silk functional panels in antique gold were hung on each side of the window. A very tightly accordian pleated valance was made up and hung under the panels to draw the eye to the each side of the room. The finished look gave the client the elegance she desired for all of her beautiful chinaware and crystal she has collected over the years.

The Master Bedroom

The master bedroom is very large and therefore a sitting area was created in front of the window. The loveseat which originally matched the client’s couch in the livingroom was upholstered in a cream coloured fine linen fabric. Small pillows with punches of colour were added to the room’s dressing. The king size bedspread was custom made from pure embroidered cream silk. The designed diamond shape quilting added that high end touch to the bed.

The functional drapes and roman blinds were made from cream coloured pure silk. Button detailing added that final touch to the overall romantic look of the room. We then added the client's Persian carpets and antique paintings to complete the room.

The Guest Bedroom

We created a very luxurious look for the client in this room. Custom quilted blue satin bedding was made in a traditional style to compliment the furniture the client had collected. For the window treatment we designed a classic wider look in a panel and swag and jabot style in pure gold silk. A roman blind in the same silk was added in order to provide privacy for their guests. Small antique furniture pieces and Persian rugs were added to complete the room.
